At some point, company officials will need to discuss the fate of a separate production line for the A-29 Super Tucano in Jacksonville, Fla., but “[t]hat time has not come yet,” said Embraer’s Marcio Monteiro.
While Embraer is partnered with Saab to manufacture the Swedish jet, Embraer CEO Francisco Gomes Neto said the fighter market “is not a place that we want to go to,” adding that the company is “studying other segments first.”

Under a memorandum of understanding, Northrop will explore options to develop an autonomous boom refueling system for Embraer’s KC-390, hoping to attract US and international customers.
“This is a clear demonstration that Embraer Defense and Security is ready for the future and is ready to support the most demanding air forces here in the Asia-Pacific region,” Embraer Defense and Security President and CEO Bosco da Costa Jr. said at the Singapore Airshow.
“To be honest with you, my perspective is that for the C-390, there is no way to have two completion centers in the region,” said Bosco da Costa Jr., the CEO of Embraer’s defense business.
"You don't need a bespoke F-35 at eleventy billion dollars an hour, right? You can do this in a very cost-effective way,” Ray Fitzgerald, senior vice president for strategy at SNC, told Breaking Defense.
“We see a lot of potential for the K-390 in Poland with the growth of forces, the needs for logistics and rapid employment of capabilities,” said Embraer’s Chief Marketing Officer Marcio Monteiro.
The Air Force plans to use the Boeing KC-46 Pegasus’s Capability Production Document “as the most affordable requirements basis” for the new program, potentially giving the embattled aerospace manufacturer a leg up in a competition.
